Erda City has a dedicated building-permit process, and building permits are handled for the city by Ensign Engineering. The city's current permit page does not publish a simple square-foot exemption for detached sheds, so we have not confirmed that a 200 sq. ft. exemption applies in Erda.
Most Utah cities have adopted versions of the International Building Code that generally exempt one-story detached accessory structures, such as storage sheds, that are 200 sq. ft. or smaller from requiring a building permit. We have not been able to confirm that Erda applies this exemption in exactly the same way, but based on the standards commonly used by Utah municipalities, we believe it is likely. We still recommend confirming the current requirement with Erda before construction.
Before ordering or installing a shed, we recommend confirming the current building-permit and zoning requirements with Erda City or Ensign Engineering. Erda City lists Ensign Engineering at 169 N Main St., Tooele, Utah, phone 435-843-3590.
Erda City Building Permits*Erda City does not currently publish a clear small-shed permit exemption on this page. Confirm the current requirement before construction.

Grantsville City states that a one-story detached storage-type shed that is 200 sq. ft. or smaller does not require a building permit when no electrical, plumbing or mechanical work is provided. Site-plan approval is still required.
Grantsville's accessory-structure guidance also lists typical separation requirements of 5 feet from property lines and 10 feet from the home or other structures. Reduced separation can trigger fire-rating requirements, so placement should be confirmed with the city before installation.
Grantsville City — When Do I Need a Building Permit?*Site-plan and zoning requirements can still apply even when a building permit is not required.
Lake Point City provides a building-permit application and a detailed permit-document checklist. The city's current information requires zoning approval and a site plan showing the proposed building, square footage, height, distances to property lines, easements and other site information.
We did not find a published small-shed exemption on Lake Point's current website, so we recommend confirming whether your particular shed requires a building permit before construction. Building-permit questions can be directed to Lake Point Planning at 435-849-2651 or planning@lakepoint.gov.

Rush Valley Town's current Forms & Permits page says permit documents are available by contacting the town clerk while the town continues digitizing its forms. Recent Planning & Zoning agendas also show storage-shed building permits being reviewed by the town.
Because we could not find a published square-foot exemption for sheds, we recommend contacting Rush Valley before construction and assuming that town review may be required. Rush Valley Town can be reached at 435-354-3551 or townofrv@gmail.com.

Stockton Town Code specifically exempts accessory buildings that do not exceed 200 sq. ft. from the building-permit requirement.
The same code makes an important distinction: permit-exempt buildings are still subject to other requirements such as setbacks, structure height and the number of accessory structures, and the Building Department states that plans must still be reviewed.
Stockton Town Code — Building Permit Exemptions*A building-permit exemption does not waive Stockton's zoning and placement requirements.

Tooele City provides an online building-permit portal, but we did not find a current city page that clearly states a blanket 200 sq. ft. exemption for residential sheds. Tooele City Code says permits are generally required for structures unless the work is minor in character as defined by the code or determined by the Building Official.

Tooele City's residential zoning code also contains specific accessory-structure placement rules. Accessory structures are generally required to meet the front setback, be at least 6 feet from the principal structure and 5 feet from side and rear property lines, with limited circumstances where the side or rear setback may be reduced to 1 foot.
Tooele City Building Permit Applications & Portal*We recommend confirming the current permit threshold with Tooele City Community Development at 435-843-2132 before installing a shed.
Vernon Town's current website does not publish a simple shed-size exemption. Town meeting records show that building projects are reviewed locally and that site plans may be sent to the Planning Commission for review.
Because we could not find a current online rule confirming whether a shed 200 sq. ft. or smaller is exempt, we recommend contacting Vernon Town before construction. The town's published contact is info@vernon.utah.gov, with Town Hall at 325 South Main Street, Vernon, Utah.

Wendover City provides building-permit applications through its Planning & Zoning department and publishes its land-use regulations online. We did not find a current page that clearly states a small-shed square-foot exemption.

Properties outside an incorporated city—including areas such as Stansbury Park, Ophir and other unincorporated communities—may fall under Tooele County requirements rather than a city building department.
Tooele County Code contains additional permit and fire-review requirements in wildland/urban interface and intermix areas. That section exempts certain one-story detached storage sheds and similar buildings only when the floor area does not exceed 120 sq. ft. and the structure is more than 50 feet from the nearest adjacent structure, unless another building, fire or zoning rule requires a permit.
Because the county rule depends on location and overlapping building, fire and zoning requirements, we recommend confirming the requirement with Tooele County before installing a shed in an unincorporated area.
Most Utah cities have adopted versions of the International Building Code that generally exempt one-story detached accessory structures, such as storage sheds, that are 200 sq. ft. or smaller from requiring a building permit. We have not been able to confirm that Tooele County applies this exemption as a general countywide rule, and the county code includes different requirements in some areas. For that reason, we recommend confirming the current requirement with Tooele County before construction.
Tooele County Code*Ophir dissolved as an incorporated town in 2016 and is now handled as an unincorporated area. Stansbury Park is also unincorporated.

Electrical, plumbing or mechanical work can trigger separate permit requirements even when the shed itself would otherwise be exempt from a building permit. Confirm those requirements with your city before work begins.
