Sanpete County oversees building and construction departments in all Sanpete County Cities and unincorporated areas. There are different requirements depending on your location and the type of building you are constructing. We have gathered this information by speaking with a Sanpete County Building Official. Please note that this information is for informational purposes only and does not constitute or supercede any official county policies or ordinances.

Building Permit Requirements:

• Within City Limits - If you live within any town or city limits within Sanpete County, sheds or outbuildings 200 sq. ft. and smaller do not require a building permit. However, all structures larger than 200 sq. ft. DO require a permit.
• Unincorporated Sanpete County - On properties not located within any town or city limits within Sanpete County, sheds or outbuildings up to 120 sq. ft. do not require a building permit.  However, all buildings larger than 120 sq. ft. DO require a permit.
• Aggricultural Buildings - Some buildings may be exempt from requiring a building permit even if they are larger that 120 sq. ft. or 200 sq. ft. so long as they are strictly for agricultural purposes and they are located in areas where these exemptions apply.
