The Draper City website states that they have adopted the International Building Code which states that any buildings 200 sq. ft. and smaller do not require a building permit. We were unable to verify this on their website. However, we have spoken with a Draper City Building Official and they have confirmed that accessory buildings that are 200 sq. ft. and smaller do not require a building permit as long as there are no utilities (power, water) in the building. The Herriman City Building Department web page states that only sheds that are larger than 200 Sq. ft. require a building permit. However, all sheds smaller than 200 sq. ft. that have electrical require an electrical permit. The following is an excerpt from the Herriman Building dept. web page:

Holladay City does not require a building permit for any any Shed or building that is 200 sq. ft. or smaller. However, they do recommend that you check with the planning department to determine the proper placement of a shed on your property.

Midvale City does not require a building permit for any any Shed or building that is 200 sq. ft. or smaller unless it is located in a commercial or non residential area. Then you may build a shed that is up to 120 sq. ft without needing a building permit.

The Kaysville website states that a building permit is not required for accessory buildings that are 200 sq. ft. or less.

The Murray City Website does not have any specific information about what sizes of sheds require a building permit. However, most cities in Salt Lake County have adapted the International building code which states that any buildings 200 sq. ft. and smaller do not require a building permit. Riverton City does not require a building permit for any shed that is 200 sq. ft. or smaller.

Sandy City does not require a building permit for any storage shed or other structure that is 200 sq. ft. or smaller.

The South Jordan Building Department states that only structures larger than 200 square feet require a building permit.
The city's "Summary of Accessory Building Requirements" states the following:
Buildings greater than 200 sq. ft. shall have a minimum 3:12 roof pitch over the majority of the structure and require a building permit..
